P5P or Pyridoxal 5 Phosphate is the activated form of vitamin B6. This activation takes place in the liver, however in some individuals with the MTHFR gene mutation, vitamin B6 cannot be broken down properly to be metabolised into the active form in the blood and be absorbed in the cells.
