Digestive enzymes are produced throughout the gastrointestinal tract to help with the breakdown of large food molecules into smaller nutrients for absorption into the bloodstream. This comprehensive formula from Pure Encapsulations contains broad spectrum enzymes that are involved in the digestion of protein, carbohydrate, fat, fibre and lactose, with the addition of betaine HCl.
The stomach naturally produces hydrochloric acid to keep its contents acidic. This is important to provide the right conditions for effective digestion and for killing pathogenic bacteria present in food. It also allows Vitamin B12 to be extracted from the food we eat. However as we age, the amount of stomach acid produced decreases. Low stomach acid may play a role in the development of SIBO, lead to nutritional deficiencies and increase the risk of other gut disorders.
SUGGESTED DOSAGE
2 capsules with each meal, or as directed by a health professional.

Risk Factors
Discontinue immediately if a burning sensation occurs. Not recommended for people with ulcers or a history of ulcers.
People taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), cortisone-like drugs, or other medications that might cause a peptic ulcer should not take betaine HCl.
