Description
Silymarin is an antioxidant rich compound taken from milk thistle seeds. It is known to have antioxidant, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties that protect liver cells. As a result, silymarin can help liver detox processes, relieve inflammation and encourage the repair of liver cells. This can help relieve symptoms such as jaundice, cirrhosis and liver conditions such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Some studies have shown that silymarin can help reduce insulin resistance, inflammation and liver damage. Research also suggests that milk thistle has substantial benefits in improving the cholesterol profile by reducing the level of bad cholesterol, and improving the level of good cholesterol in the blood. Silymarin has also been shown to improve bile secretion, which in turn can help to reduce the formation of painful gallstones.
SUGGESTED DOSAGE
1–4 capsules per day, in divided doses, between meals.
